JT Wilcox was elected Port of Tacoma Commissioner in 2025, where he is committed to supporting family wage jobs for Pierce County residents.  

Raised on his family farm in rural Pierce County, where he still lives today, Wilcox graduated from Yelm High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Washington State University. 

For 23 years, he worked at his fifth-generation family business, Wilcox Farms, serving as Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Financial Officer. He was a leader in several industry associations, including serving as chairman of the national “Got Milk” campaign. 

In 2011, Wilcox was sworn in as state representative for Washington’s 2nd Legislative District, which includes several small towns in Pierce and Thurston counties. He served nearly his entire Legislative career as a senior Member of House Minority Leadership, stepping down as Leader at the end of the 2023 session and completing his final term in January 2025. His legislative priorities centered on the rural economy and sustainable natural resource management. 

Today, Wilcox operates a consulting firm advising private sector companies and organizations on external relations, generational succession, press relations, and governance.
