The Port of Tacoma will have booths at several community events around Pierce County this summer, including farmers markets, the MOSAIC festival, Tacoma Pride, and Puyallup Concerts in the Park. Community members are encouraged to stop by to learn about free events like boat and bus tours and Touch-a-Truck. There’s also information about how the Port works to promote economic prosperity and environmental stewardship, and help build the workforce of the future with projects like the Port Maritime Center, which is being developed in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.
Summer is an important time for outreach at the Port, and these events provide unique opportunities to connect with the community, celebrate local culture, and enrich dialogue between the Port and Pierce County residents.
“It’s really exciting to live in a city where there’s a deep-water, dynamic working port,” said Tacoma resident Judy Berquest, speaking to Port staff at the Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market in 2024. “It’s cool to see that they’re getting people involved and showing us what’s going on down there.”
